How do I connect to a server?
Launch Ventrilo, create a user profile, then add a server with the hostname/IP, port (default 3784), and password. Click Connect.
What is the difference between v4 and v3?
Ventrilo 4 uses the modern Opus codec, supports themes, avatars, deferred messaging, file transfer, and has native Apple Silicon and ARM64 support. v3 is the legacy version with a simpler feature set. Both use the same server pricing.
Can I switch between v3 and v4?
Yes. You can switch your hosted server between Ventrilo 3 and Ventrilo 4 at any time through the control panel.
Nobody can hear me. What do I do?
Make sure "Mute Mic" is unchecked, "Enable outgoing voice communications" is checked in the Voice tab, your input device is set to your microphone, and "Outbound Amplifier" is set to 0.
I can't hear other users.
Check that "Mute Snd" is unchecked, your output device is set correctly in Setup > Voice, and "Inbound Amplifier" is set to 0.
What is the default port?
The default Ventrilo port is 3784. Your router must permit outbound connections on this port.
